By Baker Associates

ADVERTISEMENTS
Harassment is a term that encompasses a broad spectrum of legal subjects and causes of action. The term usually surfaces in the civil law context in the form of sexual harassment lawsuits brought by people who are harassed at the workplace or discussed in the context of orders of protection, where one party feels threatened as a result of harassment by another party and seeks to prevent further contact with, or abuse by, the other party. In the criminal context, harassment can take many different forms and is punished differently under the law according to what form the harassment takes.
