Jury: Johnson & Johnson Made Misleading Statements about Drug

A Louisiana jury has ordered Johnson & Johnson (J&J) to pay $257.7 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the state claiming the company “[made] misleading claims about the safety of the [their] Risperdal antipsychotic drug.” According to the suit, J&J touted their drug as safer than their competitors’ product but minimized the drug’s “potentially fatal risk of diabetes.” This is the second verdict to go against J&J involving Risperdal; a West Virginia judge ruled against the company in a similar case last year.
