Better, New Students, Third Year, and Thankful

By jarvis666

ADVERTISEMENTS
The good news is that, in addition to third year starting up, I am actually feeling much better. The moving in itself took a physical toll on my, but combined with the sickness that I caught, I really hit downhill fast. I was never so sore from being so sick in all my life. In fact, my girlfriend was ready to take me to the emergency room Thursday night. Luckily, the power of Tylenol 3 (good ole codeine), the pain went away, and with antibiotics, so is the illnesses. I am much better now though.

Thursday evening though was nice. We had a meet and greet with the incoming first year IB&M students. As always, it was nice and all to meet the new students and share what I?ve learned these past two years with them. While many were excited about going to Domus, as I said earlier, I obviously couldn?t.

Now that third year has officially gotten underway (well September I should say, my third year started back in May), I am hoping for the right start this time around. This past Friday marked one year since Clint went missing, and of course, subsequently found dead a month and some days later (not the ideal way to start second year). In a weird way, while I felt like crap most of last week because I was sick, I was thinking about how that day was one year ago for Clint, and was wondering if he woke up that day knowing that it was the last time he was ever going to wake up, or if the thought even occurred to him. I didn?t obsess over it, but it was on my mind for a bit.

Third year is now here. Aside from being ill, I?ve never felt more alive and better about things. This time, I am fortunate and grateful that nothing tragic occurred my first week of September. I only hope that no one ever has to go through what I did last year. Back in the winter, I was offered a withdrawal from the law school because of the depression that I was going though, but I didn?t even need to think about it. I knew that I wanted to graduate with the people that I started with. I knew I was capable of finishing second year (although I still did not end up with the best of grades).

I?m thankful to have even made it through second year. I?m thankful for the great people in my life. As well, I?m thankful to be alive.
