Legal Job For Salesmen - Or Is That A Sales Job For Lawyers?

Selling and lawyering can be a case of ‘never the twain shall meet’, but for a San Diego firm, Scholefield Associates, they’re out there actively seeking an associate who has experience in sales. 

 At the end of the day, everyone’s a salesperson to a greater or lesser extent, no matter how high (or low) their calling.  So why should lawyers not be recruited on that basis?  The construction firm’s difference here is that it’s normally the partners who do the rainmaking, not new associates.

They’re looking for someone with a professional sales background who can establish a rapport with potential clients rather than doing the heavy, legal lifting.  So those looking for a legal job with a heavy sales component.  The trend may - in some quarters anyway - be changing.
