Obama-Wright Part 5: The Church Strikes Back, Poorly

By wt

ADVERTISEMENTS
Despite clearly employing a pastor who lied on the pulpit and made the church ineligible for tax-exemption status, the Trinity Church of Christ has come to the defense of Jeremiah Wright:
Nearly three weeks before the 40th commemorative anniversary of the murder of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the Reverend Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.?s character is being assassinated in the public sphere because he has preached a social gospel on behalf of oppressed women, children, and men in America and around the globe.

[speechless]

Because criticizing a pastor who asks God to damn America is the functional equivalent of killing Martin Luther King Jr?

That seems like an especially good way to not defend yourself.

Fortunately, voters aren't buying it. McCain is now doing better against Obama than he is against Clinton.

And the issue will continue to dog the Obama campaign as long as he continues to deny what an influential role Wright played in his personal life and campaign.
