Digging for Bobby Fischer: Iceland Court Orders Chess Great's Exhumation

By Eric Lipman

ADVERTISEMENTS
Say what you will about Deep Blue, but at least after its "death" in the late '90s, nobody claimed it had fathered an illegitimate child named Jinky. That is exactly the claim that has led a court in Iceland to order Bobby Fischer's body exhumed as part of a dispute over his estate that has been raging since he died in 2008. Marilyn Young, Jinky's mother, claims that Fischer is the girl's father, and apparently provided the court with some evidence to that effect (which she also conveniently sent to Chessbase News).
