I first met Scott Greenfield in about March 2007, when he began to comment on this blog. This post contains, I believe, one of his first comments.

At the time, I remember thinking, this guy needs a blog. And, sure enough, shortly thereafter he started his now well known blog, Simple Justice. I first introduced my readers to his blog in this post.

I've since had the pleasure of meeting Scott in person on my many trips to New York City. He is truly one of the most endearing and interesting lawyers that I know. His passion for his craft--criminal defense--is obvious both in his writings on his blog and through our discussions over a meal.

He believes fervently in defending the rights granted to us in the Constitution and always writes eloquently and thoughtfully on his blog about criminal defense issues. He is passionate about being a lawyer and defending people accused of crimes. He is, as the prosecutors used to call me and some of my other Public Defender colleagues, a "true believer."

When Scott recently asked other bloggers for assistance, I was happy to oblige. (In fact, I made a similar request a while back and was very appreciative of those who assisted me.) Scott is one of the many lawyers that I've met as a result of my online presence that I am now proud to call a friend. I consider myself lucky to have met him.
