SNSFE Investigates Private Placement Investments As FINRA Issues Regulatory Notice Warning Firms Of Their Duties To Investors

By James Eccleston

ADVERTISEMENTS

An increase in the number of investor complaints regarding private placements has led FINRA to publish guidance for firms about their obligations and best practices when selling those private placements.  In Regulatory Notice 10-22 released on April 20, 2010, FINRA stresses the need for brokerage firms to conduct thorough investigations of the securities they sell and not rely on the issuer for information, as well as to disclose any lack of essential information about an issuer or its securities and the risks to investors.

SNSFE has investigated and continues to investigate abusive Reg D private placement investments in which investors have lost money. Those with information should feel free to contact attorneys at SNSFE.
