: Legal Pad | LAHarassment suit between former gay employee and TBN has been settled

Brian Dugger, an engineer for Trinity Broadcasting Network, sued the Christian television giant a year ago, claiming harassment and discrimination. Filed in Orange County Superior Court and moved to federal court, the suit sought at least $1.9 million in punitive damages and $650,000 in general and special damages, as well as statutory damages.
Dugger claimed that Paul Crouch Jr., who took over the reins at TBN in 2001, taunted the former employee with pornographic pictures and told him to "act more straight." Dugger also alleged that he was denied promotions, raises and responsibility because of his sexual orientation and forced into an independent contractor relationship with the network that deprived him of benefits.
The suit has been settled confidentially.
