ADVERTISEMENTS

On November 13, 2007, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit implemented the Appellate Case Management Electronic Case Filing System (CM/ECF). As a result of this implementation, the Clerk's Office is able to scan party filings and post them to the Court's docket. (Large documents, such as briefs and appendices, are not posted to the docket.) In addition, additional queries and reports are available through the CM/ECF system that were not previously available through PACER. In 2008, the Court will implement the electronic filing portion of the CM/ECF system. With that implementation, counsel will file documents electronically rather than in paper form. The Court will continue, however, to require paper copies of briefs, in addition to the electronic copy, and will continue to require appendices in paper form only.
