L.A. County District Attorney may get 23% raise

County supervisors are considering a 23% pay raise for the Los Angeles County district attorney today. If approved for term, it would be the highest paid position in Los Angeles County government, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Despite Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's major cuts last week, the proposed raise from $236,829 to $292,300 for the D.A. is on par with other county heads and keeps with the tradition of district attorneys making more than public defenders, county officials told The Times. County Public Defender Michael Judge makes $395 more than County D.A. Steve Cooley.
