White House Web Site Omits U.S. Attorney Nominees

When the Senate on Friday confirmed President Obama's first U.S. attorney nominees, no one could accuse it of having acted hastily. It was nearly three months ago that President Obama formally nominated the six for the posts. The confirmations were seen as having broken through a logjam in the Senate Judiciary Committee's confirmation pipeline. Now if only someone could break through the logjam in the WhiteHouse.gov Web site. Although the president has now nominated 20 lawyers to U.S. attorney positions around the country, a page on the White House site that purports to list the president's nominations and appointments shows only those initial six U.S. attorney nominees (and does not show them as confirmed) plus one other who was nominated June 4. For an administration that touts transparency, this does not reflect well. Even so, with a bit of snooping around the Briefing Room section of the White House site, you can find the formal announcements of all 20 nominees to date.
