: Legally Blonde AmbitionThe Bar Exam Continued: Daisy's Strategy
By "Daisy Duke"
ADVERTISEMENTS
I wish I'd followed all of my own advice when I took the bar exam. I took more of a foolish "OHMYGOODNESSI'MNEVERGOINGTOPASS" approach that led to a lot of compulsive outlining, reading & pacing in my living room and eating far too many cupcakes. Live and learn, eh? Some things though I think I did a great job on. Namely, my daily routine that I settled into. I found a study partner- for me it was The Artful Blogger. We were good friends from law school but not best friends which was crucial- a bff type of friend would have offered too many temptations to stop & chat. It was hard enough as it was with Artful, but at least when one of said 'Ok I'm settling in now' the other one had the sense to shush up and get back to the books. It was convenient to say the least- we had someone to watch our things when we had to use the restroom or purchase yet another cup of coffee. We had fun selecting lunch every day & always took a break to enjoy our lunch and chat about non-bar exam issues. We had someone to double-check the little things with: did we have our schedule written down properly, did we fill in a blank correctly, did we understand a concept? We also had someone to remind the other person when they should take a chill pill or go home and rest their brain. It was a perfect arrangement. When we discovered we passed we were the first people to exchange the good news and subsequently? As far as male-female relationships go, I'd say we are pretty much in "best friend" territory.
This long story leads me to my piece of advice that if you are not studying at home and you want to study in a coffee shop or juice shop find a buddy. A friend, a classmate, but not your best friend. Find someone you feel comfortable telling "hush" to, come up with a system and share power-cords & tables while you slog through the grueling outlines together. The buddy system- just do it.

The ruptures can involve Achilles tendon, shoulder, hand, bicep or thumb tendons, and is especially increased in patients older than 60, or people who have received kidney, heart or lung transplants, as well as people on steroid therapy...
