F*%^
No explanation, no reason, no nothing. It was like getting kicked in the stomach, it was literally out of the blue. She even told me "everyone who has worked with you just thinks the world of you and highly recommends you."
WTF?
I'm beyond bummed out and disappointed. My direct supervisor was shocked and dumbfounded but can't really do anything about it because she has no power and no say when it comes to hiring.
So now I have no idea what the hell to do. I know I need to pass the bar and just focus on that and worry about the rest later. But it is so hard to motivate myself to focus on the bar when everything I've worked for the past 2 years just got yanked out from underneath me.
The district I interned for has a reputation for screwing people over and also for changing their minds. Although at this point I'm not hoping that they change their mind and if they did change their mind I'm not sure I'd really want to go back. But I also have massive school debt and the thought of being totally unemployed after the bar exam (as opposed to having at least a 2 month cushion where I could intern and look for jobs) really makes me want to throw up.
Bright spot in all of this is that since all this crap went down yesterday I've realized that I really do have amazing friends and colleagues. I had so many phone calls and emails yesterday from people who were shocked and offering support, help, etc., that it really was remarkable, I had no idea that I had that many people around me who genuinely care, it was touching. And as one of my good friends of many years pointed out to me, things will work out eventually, they always have, and it'll work out this time too. So maybe that phone call from HR yesterday really is a blessing in disguise, maybe I'm meant to do something bigger and better.
But for now, it just sucks, I'm disappointed, bitter, pissed off, and out of wine.
