: Legal Pad | LAAguirre and former staff lawyer will battle for city attorney
By Jason Siegel
A former staff attorney who is suing San Diego City Attorney Michael Aguirre for alleged sexual harassment will also be running against him in the June election, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The lawsuit alleges Aguirre made demeaning comments to female coworkers and treated them worse than men. Former deputy city attorney Amy Lepine told the Tribune that the lawsuit wasn't related to her decision to run against Aguirre.
Lepine prosecuted pension fraud for the city before leaving in 2006. She's since formed the Lepine Law Group which focuses on consumer fraud and divorce cases.
Others running against Aguirre for the city attorney position this June are San Diego lawyer Dan Coffey, Superior Court Judge Jan Goldsmith and City Councilman Brian Maienschein.
