Bales was appointed by Attorney General Eric Holder to follow Rebecca Gregory, who has since joined the Texas Attorney General's Office.
Mr. Bales received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. Prior to becoming an Assistant United States Attorney in February 1989, Bales served as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Bales and his wife, Betsy, have been married for 30 years and are the proud parents of 6 children and 3 grandchildren.
