Salmonella Pistachio Product Recall Expanded

The FDA announced additional and expanded items that are being recalled.  The following recalls have been announced because the products may be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems:

Aurora Products Inc. is recalling select pistachio products. The recalled items were distributed nationwide, as well as in Bermuda. Details: by phone at 800-898-1048.

- Pistachio meat raw (no shell); 9-ounce plastic cup; UPC 65585200132; date codes 8/09/09 to 12/31/09

- Pistachio meat, roasted salted (no shell); 9-ounce plastic cup; UPC 65585200129; date codes 7/23/09 to 12/31/09

- Pistachio meat, roasted no salt (no shell); 9-ounce plastic cup; UPC 65585200473; date codes 7/15/09 to 12/31/09

- Pistachio roasted salted (in shell); 8-ounce plastic cup; UPC 65585200093; date codes 7/7/09 to 12/31/09
