Paralegal Attempting to Make Film about John Breaux

By ParalegalGateway.com

ADVERTISEMENTS

John Breaux LAFAYETTE - In the months following the roadside death of one of the area's most well-known residents, the community has made a number of efforts to ensure the Good Samaritan's legacy lives on and inspires others.

According to a report in the Louisville Times, Lorenza Maksimow, an independent paralegal professional, is moving forward in an effort to create either a documentary or a feature length film about the life of John Breaux.

Breaux, 57, was killed Jan. 30 on Highway 287 near South Boulder Road when a car veered onto the shoulder and hit him while he picked up trash. Breaux was known by the community because of his selfless acts - he was always riding around the area on his bicycle with two trash bags on his handlebars, cleaning up eastern Boulder County.

According to the Louisville Times, Maksimow called a longtime friend and movie producer Richard Cueto, who then traveled to Louisville to see if there would be enough material for a film and to see if Breaux's family members would be interested.

Cueto told the Times there would be enough material, but he has yet to decide whether to pursue creating a documentary or a feature film, due to financial concerns.

Maksimow says she and Breaux's family are also working on creating music for the film along with musician Larry Chaney, according to the report.

In the last week, it was announced Lafayette's Barberry Park would be renamed John Breaux Park and a bronze plaque would be erected in his honor, according to a report in Boulder's Daily Camera. A formal dedication ceremony was expected to be scheduled sometime this summer.

A fundraising effort set up at local businesses and banks to raise money in Breaux's memory has amassed about $35,000 already, according to the report.

Additionally, the Camera reports, Lafayette's annual yard waste spring clean-up effort has been renamed the John Breaux Spring Clean-Up. It's scheduled to start on May 11.
