Paralegal Receives Public Service Honor from Kenya's Ambassador

The Kenyan Ambassador to the United States, Peter Ogego, has come to town to present her one of his country's highest honors for public service, The Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear.

The award expresses the Kenyan government's gratitude for all Colombini has done to rally aid to some of the many Kenyans displaced by the convulsion of tribal violence that followed a disputed presidential election late in 2007.

Colombini credits late Mayor Bob Blanchard, former councilman Lee Pierce, City Manager Jeff Kolin, St. Rose School and many Sonoma County friends with advancing the humanitarian efforts of her Kenya America Relief Effort (kare-usa.org).

"The trouble has subsided," she said. But many displaced people "are still stranded and need help.

"We will continue until the end," the Santa Rosan said.
