I just wanted to let you know that I won't be able to attend class on Feb
12, the night that we are supposed to do an in class practice performance test. I am the managing
editor of the [Useless] Int'l Law Review and that evening we are hosting our annual
alumni banquet and lecture, which I will be attending. Please let me know if you would like me to do the performance test on my own at home and submit it to you before class on the 12th. Thanks!!

Hi Professor Idiot,
I am not able to attend that class, I work all day at my internship on Thursdays so I will be going straight from work the banquet that evening.
I'm more than happy to complete the in-class assignment at home either before or after the day that it is given in class. Please let me know. Thanks.

Seriously "keep me posted" in response to both of my emails??? Keep you posted about what? I'm not going to class that night, plain and simple. I wouldn't have said anything at all except I was trying to be courteous and let you know I'm not just a slacker 3L who's already ditching a month into the semester. Is it really that hard?? Am I missing something here??
