Give me a little credit, George.

ADVERTISEMENTS
Ok, bonus points if you recognize that as a line from Father of the Bride!

Anyway. So apparently Georgie was quoted on CNN as saying that some people voted for Barack Obama because of him. Ok, that may be true.

But then he said that most of us voted for Obama because we want him in our living rooms explaining policy for the next four years.

Yeah, because I vote for the person I want to hear explaining policy, not because of their policies. Give us a little credit, George. Obama won in a landslide. There's more to winning by a landslide than "oh, they were just sick of us Republicans".

Obama won because of the things he represents in the minds of those who voted for him:
The real America
The new majority.

Why does he represent these things? Because in Barack Obama, people see hope for this country. Hope that we can work together for the common good despite partisanship by truly listening to each other and compromising. Hope that the ideals of the Constitution can be upheld. Hope that we can live and let live again, and hope that politics can be something a little more noble than a mere power grab.

He represents these not only by talking the talk, but by walking the walk. How long has it been since we had a candidate like that?
