: ButterflyfishSerious thoughts on the election...
Saturday Night Live hasn't been funny for a long time. But every few elections, they really do a good job skewering the candidates. I'll never forget Bush v. Gore and the lockbox. Lockbox. It was a good idea and good policy... until that sketch made the word lockbox funny. I don't know if Gore ever said it again. Bush Jr. between debates one and two suddenly learning how to pronounce the names of foreign leaders. It was strategery. Hilarious.
I watched about half of the SNL prime time special last night and they re-ran some of the best bits from this election. I found myself laughing so very hard at the VP debate between Palin and Biden. I think I've seen the video at least twice before on YouTube. There s no point in posting it here -- its been posted everywhere. You've seen it. Or you can YouTube it. Catching it last night, it tickled me and I found myself unable to breathe I was laughing so hard. It was truly the high point of the election season comedy coverage.
It feels as if this election season has dragged on longer than any in history. Maybe so, maybe not, but it was just awful. I am burned out on all of this. You might be too. But go vote. I live in a state where I know my vote for president absolutely won't matter, but I am voting anyway.
Oh, and if you live in California, Vote No on 8.
