The Los Angeles City Attorney's office is sending prosecutors to poorly performing middle schools in crime-ridden areas, the Los Angeles Times reported (here).

Partnering with the school district, prosecutors will be sent to at least nine "priority middle schools," hoping to improve student performance by improving student safety, following the model of the Markham Middle School Safety Initiative.

Participating schools include the Maclay Middle School in Pacoima, Audubon Middle School in Leimert Park, Mann Middle School in Hyde Park, Wilmington Middle School in Wilmington, Cochran Middle School in the Mid-City area, Mark Twain Middle School in Mar Vista, Bethune Middle School in South Los Angeles, Nightingale Middle School in Cypress Park and Burbank Middle School in Highland Park.
