: Random Ramblings About Life and Law SchoolThe first few days...
This was the first week of class for the semester. I'm taking Constitutional Law (Con Law), Property, Professional Responsibility and Medical Malpractice. It's going to be an interesting year! My Con Law professor seems pretty cool. She's enthusiastic about the material, and makes it come alive. Unfortunately, it's a full year course with only one exam-- which is at the end of spring semester!!! Property is the same way, only our professor believes we should have a midterm (but we can't--Suffolk won't allow it, apparently). I'm definitely looking forward to Med Mal! Our professor is an attorney at a med mal defense firm near Boston, which is cool. I'm glad, because I don't think I have it in me to work for a plaintiff in a med mal case.
But on to the more interesting stuff. Yesterday for the first time I took dexedrine, and what a difference! I never knew! About 40 minutes after I took it, I realized I felt relaxed. At work. Relaxed at work! And I felt slow, which was really weird but it didn't last that long--maybe an hour or so. But it's not that I was actually slow. I never realized it, but it's like I've always had a warped sense of time or something, like there was always this engine in me revving, saying "come on, let's go, hurry up, next!". In the absence of that revving, I felt slow and relaxed. It was so nice! And for once, my brain was finally quiet. I usually feel like I have 2 or 3 different trains of thought bouncing around inside my head at a time, and no internal editing process. Now there was only one--whatever it was I was doing at the time. And I found myself being more articulate. I wasn't interrupting myself or losing track of what I was saying mid-sentence. When I was driving, I noticed that instead of getting instantly angry at the bad drivers on the road, I got irritated at most. I even kind of tried to get angry, and I couldn't! Of course, I got angry tonight, but it took a hell of a lot longer than it usually does--30 minutes! Long story. :)
Anyway, today I had my first class while taking dexedrine. The real test will be when I have Prof. Responsibility or Property, the two classes I'm least interested in, but today in Con Law I think my mind wandered maybe 3 times during the entire class. Unbelievable! Usually my mind is wandering after 4-5 sentences, even when I'm interested. I think my notes were better as a result, too.
You know, I didn't realize how hard things were before I took dexedrine. Not that they were impossible or anything, but life was definitely more stressful and more of a struggle than they have been over the last two days.
I'm still a little amazed. :)
