: Legal Pad | LAFBI begins criminal investigation of City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo
By Jason Siegel
Agents recently interviewed people in L.A. as part of their inquiry, though the case is being run from San Francisco to avoid a conflict of interest should the U.S. attorney in Los Angeles be assigned to the case, according to the Chronicle.
The FBI began a criminal investigation of Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, the San Francisco Chronicle reported (here).
The Chronicle story cited anonymous sources and FBI spokesperson Joseph Schadler, wouldn't confirm that an investigation was underway. However, City Controller Laura Chick told the Associated Press that she was questioned by the FBI and the U.S. attorney's office about Delgadillo (here).Delgadillo spokesman Nick Velasquez said the City Attorney's Office has not been contacted as part of the investigation. It's still unknown exactly with the FBI is investigating. A spokesperson for Delgadillo told the Chronicle that they don't know what the allegations are but believe it is "trash being shoveled by the city attorney's political opponents...engaging in a classic
political assassination" as Delgadillo considered a run for state attorney general.
