: Legal Pad | LALawyers give big bucks for/against same-sex marriage ballot measure
By Jason Siegel
Lawyers are increasingly funding the fight over a November ballot measure that would eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry, if passed, The Recorder reported.
Among those giving funds to the Yes on 8 campaign, which seeks a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage in California:
Scott Roybal, a Sheppard Mullin partner (Los Angeles), gave $8,900
William Bunker, a
Knobbe Martens partner (Orange County), gave ($5,000)
Among those giving funds to the No on 8 campaign are federal prosecutor Ellyn Linsay, who gave $5,000, and Christopher Caldwell of L.A. litigation boutique Caldwell Leslie, gave $25,000.
