False report of romance between Carona and federal prosecutor got all 250 L.A. prosecutors disqualified

All the prosecutors at the U.S. attorney's offices in Los Angeles and Santa Ana were disqualified from handling former Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona's public corruption case, except for two who report to supervisors in Washington, D.C.

Why?

Because of a false report by an FBI informant that Carona had an affair with Gibson Dunn partner and former U.S. attorney for Los Angeles Debra W. Yang, the Los Angeles Times reported (here).

The U.S. attorney's office in Los Angeles says it investigated the claim and determined that it was false, but recused itself to avoid the perception of a conflict of interest, the Times reported.
