Tyra Banks is John Edwards's New Campaign Advisor

By wt

ADVERTISEMENTS
John Edwards is apparently doing the talk show circuit.

And by that I mean the Tyra Banks show, which is like 2 steps below doing the Chevy Chase show. What? That's been cancelled?

?What does that feel like to be a minority, to be a white male?? Tyra Banks asked John Edwards on her show. Edwards laughed, ?It feels like you have to fight for everything you get.?

It was a joke, but at the same time a great rhetorical twist. Now suddenly Edwards is the downtrodden minority, just in time to campaign in the heavily African-American areas of rural South Carolina.

It's one thing to go on a show and discuss a funny twist offered by the host. But Slate predicts it will become part of the campaign message any day now.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if the hey-look-I'm-a-minority joke surfaces on the Edwards trail in the coming days. It's a clever comment on the topsy-turvy nature of this race, and it gains Edwards no small bit of sympathy.

Great. Edwards is getting his campaign ideas from Tyra Banks. That sounds like good strategy to me.

Also John, smile with your eyes, look really fierce, don't look like you're running a Presidential campaign for a mens' magazine, and take control of your destiny!

You wanna be on top, John Edwards?
