Hello, and Important Dining Information for Clinicians Visiting Tucson

Thanks to Dan and the rest for having me back.   I've just finished my 13th year in the law Prawf business, my fifth at the University of Arizona, and although my writing may appear eclectic, I consider the unifying theme to be race and criminal law--that's what links immigration, felon disenfranchisement, criminal procedure, and access to counsel.

As Dan hinted in his intro, whatever I've learned about law is dwarfed by my expertise in donuts and diners; I commend the fabulous Roadfood and The Blognut sites to all.   I don't know if the Prawfs people realized I might digress with my very first post, but the following is important: To the hundreds of clinicians in Tucson for the AALS Conference on Clinical Legal Education, I hope you read Prawfs, because I have an urgent message: it would be a blunder and a tragedy for you to eat hotel food when there are so many wonderful alternatives not easily found elsewhere in the country.  Le Cave's offers what may be the finest donuts in the United States.  El Guero Canelo has a sonoran hot dog (wrapped in bacon, fried, and covered with salsa, onions and beans) that explodes the genre.  Similarly, once you eat at Cafe Poca Cosa, you will never think about Mexican food in the same way again.  The Grill at Hacienda del Sol, Janos at La Paloma, and The Dish compete for the title of the best fine dining restaurant in Tucson.  Lil Abners is an authentic Southwestern steak house, and [watch me bring the post back on topic] legend has it it is now owned by a criminal defense attorney who took it as a fee after a jury found that previous management was responsible for some plates for printing $20 bills that the FBI found buried next to the open Mesquite fire pit.  For more thoughts,  here's a link to a University of Arizona astronomy prof's restaurant review site which is informed and reliable.  Bon appetit.
