Word from the ASNP meeting is that the Society of Settlement Planners (SSP) is giving away FREE memberships to specials needs attorneys and others. The "get as many of 'em in throught the door and hope it sticks" strategy involves waiving first year membership fees, a potential savings of $1,000!
It's an intriguing networking strategy. One wonders how many free members will stick when they eventually have to pay the fees and whether or not the "free" strategy reduces the level of prestige for a professional association. Time will tell and it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out next March.
