ADVERTISEMENTS
So, geez.  I am 89 days from Alaska.  The last few months have been insane.  We had a major brain injury trial that was supposed to be tried in November but the fires delayed it. That trial is almost all consuming.  I cannot overstate that. Trial prep for that case ALONE is 4-6 hours a day for both Jeremy and I.  We have an enormous amount of time and money into it, with an uncertain future (as all trials are in advance).  Now, we need to add to the pile.  Making arrangements for the move- this includes things like booking the ferry, making sure vehicles are serviced, arranging for pets and the like.  Making arrangements for the house build - arranging contractors, power etc.  Building the house - cutting the timbers, gathering timbers, making the mortises and tenons etc. Figuring out what to do with the practice here.  Still practicing criminal law.  Packing and moving.  Making not one but TWO TV shows about my life. Being a dad to three kids.

All in all, its crazy.  Not only am I crazy busy but the future is filled with uncertainty and fear.  I do NOT have a job or work lined up in Alaska.  I do NOT have enough money (not even close) to build my house.  I often bounce from idea to idea to idea as I try to solve problems and as I learn from those around me.

To be honest, I'm not enjoying this very much.  It's too much.  I don't mind working hard but the deadline is firm - I leave for the ferry on May 22- and there is an enormous amount to do.  I feel frantic, and even panicked, half the time.  This is partly because I have to rely on other people and that is always problematic.

Trying to build from afar, and not being experienced, means that people are trying to take advantage of me.

All in all, the financial uncertainty and unexpected work load is adding a lot of stress I did not expect.
it sucks much of the joy out of what I am doing.  I'm not trying to complain.  I know how lucky I am.

I WILL do more updating of this blog. The journey I am about to take is a grand adventure.
