Former UCLA Law Dean to lead Ass. American Law Schools

Former UCLA Law School Dean Susan Westerberg Prager was named the executive director and CEO of the Association of American Law Schools.

Prager will take over as head of the century-old AALS this fall, replacing Carl Monk who's resigning after 16 years.

Prager was the president of AALS in 1986. She joined UCLA's faculty in 1972 and served as dean from 1982, as one of only two female law deans in the country. Prager continued at the post until 1998, the longest tenure of any law dean at UCLA.

Prager is a longtime director of the Pacific Mutual Holding Company, which owns Pacific Life Insurance Company. She currently teaches history at Occidental College and law at UCLA, researching marital property law and California legal history.
