Carona lawyers ask for delay to public corruption trial

Lawyers for former Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona filed a motion to push his public corruption trial from June 10 to Aug. 26 or Oct. 28, the O.C. Register reported.

Defense attorney Sylvia Torres-Guillen wrote that they needed more time to prepare for the trial, arguing that the June date would "substantially limit" the time for the defense to prepare for the trial.

Torres-Guillen also cited attorney Brian Sun's plan to adopt a child from China.
