: Garrett Worley's BlawgNo Need to Fear E-Discovery, Litigation Support Software
By Garrett Worley
Legal technology is advancing with lightning speed and is changing the way law is practiced. Although legal technology such as e-discovery and litigation support software can make practicing law easier when properly used, it is often the source of frustration.
Joshua Konkle of DCIGInc.com assures us there is no reason for lawyers to be intimidated by legal tech. In an interview with Steve Lilley, Konkle discusses e-discovery and retention policy management. Lilley is the founder and CEO of WorkProducts, a producer of electronic discovery software and litigation support software.
The interview is geared more toward corporate counsel, focusing on how the legal and IT departments of corporations can work together more effectively. Nevertheless, the discussion is relevant to solo and small firm lawyers, who are increasingly relying on technology to give them a competitive edge.
Education is the key to battling tech intimidation. Learning some IT jargon and understanding the capabilities of your software alone will significantly reduce your fear of legal technology. It’s important to remember that you don’t need to be an expert to effectively use technology, just a knowledgeable user.
