Two Persons Killed in Barrington Hills Auto Accident, Alcohol to Blame

Yet another tragic reminder that drinking and driving do not mix.

A motorist hit another car head on Thursday afternoon in Barrington Hills. Both drivers were killed, and according to police, alcohol was a contributing factor.


According to Barrington Hills police, the crash took place on Illinois 68 near Dundee Lane at 4:19 p.m. Sarah Yaple, 84, of St. Charles, and Oscar Arce, 24, of North Aurora were killed.

According to witnesses, the Nissan Maxima driven by Arce crossed the solid yellow line while heading eastbound on Illinois 68 and then struck the westboundBuick LeSabre driven by Yaple. A passenger in Arce's car, was also taken to a nearby hospital in an undisclosed condition.

The Major Crash Assistance Team is investigating the accident.
