"Out of the fullness of the heart, the tongue speaks."
Mrs. Obama has been saying what she thinks again, this time to an audience of hoi polloi at a daycare center in Zanesville, Ohio. IBD comments:
First Lady Of GaffesBy INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Friday, February 29, 2008 4:20 PM PT
Election '08: After revealing she had never been "really proud of my country," Michelle Obama damns business as "the money-making industry." By contrast, she says, the Obamas are in "the helping industry." Bad omen.
The whole thing lives here.
Like many Democrats, Mrs. Obama doesn't seem to listen to this stuff before she says it. For example, how much "help" would people in the "helping professions" be able to give if they had no money? Presumably, without a "money-making industry", the money would have to come from "the rich", that is those didn't get rich by being in the helping professions in the first place.
IBD continues:
[D]id the Obamas really make a tough choice to give up high-paying jobs to work in community service? The University of Chicago Medical Center reportedly pays Michelle more than $300,000 a year for her services as "vice president of community and external affairs."
When you put it that way, the question almost answers itself.
