Drug Linked To Date Rape Not Approved By FDA

The F.D.A. has denied approval of a drug used to treat sleep disorders such as narcolepsy. The agency denied approval of JZP-6, saying some of its active ingredients have been used in clubs as date rape drugs. The company that manufactured the drug has sold it under the name Xyrem since 2002 and was seeking F.D.A. approval for the drug as a treatment for fibromyalgia.
