Driver Of Chevrolet Blazer Was Paralyzed By Drunk Driver

By Marina Zapantis

ADVERTISEMENTS

A few weeks ago outside New York City a 28-year-old man was injured when a driver traveling 20 MPH over the speed limit struck the driver’s side of his Chevrolet Blazer. It was later found that the driver of the other car had a blood alcohol level, of over two times the legal limit. The man was airlifted to the nearest New York City hospital where he was found to have a severed spine that has left him paralyzed for the rest of his life. Drinking and driving accidents are becoming more common especially outside large cities. The reason why these accidents are becoming more frequent outside cities is because many people feel that they are able to drive after going out in the city for the night. People underestimate how much they have consumed and jump behind the wheel. In this case, not only was the man’s car destroyed but he suffered permanent paralysis from the waist down, which is absolutely devastating. This type of injury can be classified as a personal injury, when a personal injury case occurs the driver can file a lawsuit against the other party for both physical and financial damages as a result of the accident. Personal injury lawsuits can be filed for many different reasons and the damages given to the victim are awarded on a scale based on the severity of the accident. The instrument used to determine the amount given is called a multiplier, the more severe the accident, the higher the multiplier will be. In a case like this a higher multiplier would be used because the accident caused permanent damage to the man driving the Blazer. If you or a loved one has been injured in any type of accident that could have been prevented, file a personal injury lawsuit today.
