USPTO News: Patent Office Closed on December 26th

By Donald Zuhn -- Yesterday, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced that the USPTO will be closed on Friday, December 26, 2008. The USPTO notice states that because December 25th is a federal holiday, the Office will consider December 26th to be a "Federal holiday within the District of Columbia." As a result, any action or fee due on December 25th or December 26th will be considered timely if the action is taken or the fee is paid on Monday, December 29, 2008 (i.e., the next business day on which the Office is open).
