How to Wear Your Monkey to Court

By Lynne DeVenny

ADVERTISEMENTS
Metal detectors don't detect unarmed monkeys.
A few weeks ago I asked you to pretend you worked for Lindsay Lohan's criminal attorney and had to give her some tips on dressing for court. But we didn't cover what to say when a client asks if she can bring her preemie daughter to court.

Whatever you think might be appropriate, I bet it isn't, "Wear a good bra with plenty of room to tuck in your monkey."

That's what an unidentified woman did when she brought her "daughter," a seven-week old marmoset named Cara to the Amherst County courthouse in Virginia last week. According to New Era Progress:

The unusual event occurred when the woman arrived for a hearing in Juvenile and Domestic Relations court.

Officials said they had no idea the woman had the monkey until the she went into an office for a routine procedure to fill out court-related paperwork.

When the woman referred to a daughter, a puzzled official asked where the daughter was and the woman pulled the monkey out of her bra.

At least Cara was appropriately dressed for court  in a custom made pink and white dress.

Anything Lindsay could wear to court looks pretty darned sedate after this.
