: Food Poisoning Law BlogFood Poisoning and E coli are Popular Google Searches
By Pritzker | Ruohonen
The most popular Google searches are not "food poisoning" and "e coli," according to Google's Zeitgeist. This is good. But according to the Google Adwords keyword tool, "food poisoning" was searched on Google 165,000 times and "e coli" was searched 246,000 times in August. The average each month for these Google searches is as follows: "food poisoning" 210,000 and "e coli" 301,000. This is not an accurate count, but clearly a significant number of people search for food poisoning and E. coli information on Google each month.
This summer, there were several E. coli O157:H7 outbreaks linked to beef products and a large E. coli 0111 outbreak linked to a little restaurant in Locust Grove, Oklahoma that killed one 26-year-old man and sickened over 200 others. Victims of these outbreaks and their families, friends and neighbors were most likely some of the people who surfed the Internet for answers.
We are food safety lawyers, and as a public service, we started this blog to provide information about foodborne pathogens like E. coli, foodborne outbreaks, food recalls and other food safety topics. To provide a better service, we would like to know what information people want to find when they do Google searches of "food poisoning" and "e coli." We welcome your comments below.
We are fighting for food safety so that "food poisoning" and "e coli" never become two of the most popular Google searches.
