: court-o-rama.orgOur Old Kentucky Courthome
By Anne Skove, Esq.
Remember departing retiring Kentucky C.J. Lambert's courthouse legacy? He had planned upgrades to courthouses and/or justice centers around the commonwealth.
The ambitious project was challenged by the Herald-Leader. (Imagine what they would have said about him if he hadn't been ambitious enough! Sometimes you can't win for trying.)
Now the new chief seeks the following reforms to the original construction plans:
- While remaining "confident in the way these expenditures are made and business is conducted," taking a "closer look" at the process.
- Tracking expenditures for each project, and making that information available online.
- Hiring the National Center for State Courts. Just don't make them sing "My Old Kentucky Home" again, please!
See Chief Judge Seeks Changes in New-Courthouse Plan, Greg Kocher, Herald-Leader (October 3, 2008). (Note to Mr. Kocher: it's "justice," not "judge.")
