: Structured Settlements 4RealFormer NSSTA President Hero or Goat?
By John Darer
Demonstrating the "strategic intelligence" of his colleagues on the Ringler Radio bus at the AAJ meeting in Philadelphia last month, former NSSTA President David Ringler apparently approached the head of a state trial lawyer association, with the same "case in question" and asked if, after reading it, that state TLA head still wanted to do business with Halpern Group.
Should Mr. Ringler to be feted as a hero? Or is it the case of the pot calling the kettle black? What of Mr. Ringler's reputation as an expert in managing "dissipation risk"? Some old timers in the structured settlement industry might describe it as "legendary".
What do Mr. Ringler and his colleagues have to offer trial lawyers other than what is seen as an act of desperation in trashing a competitor, Halpern Group, on the one off case that, when all is said and done, doesn't mean much?
What collateral damage is Mr. Ringler causing his company and the rest of the structured settlement industry in the way his actions are perceived in the trial lawyer community?
