By Peter Hardin
A joint series of programs aimed at educating the public about state and federal courts in Colorado, conducted by the Colorado Bar Association and Colorado Judicial Institute, has won a national award.
The American Bar Association announced the program, entitled “Our Courts,” captured the national group’s 2010 Burnham “Hod” Greeley Award, according to a news release by the Colorado groups.
“Our Courts” was founded in September 2007. The program provides nonpartisan information to adult audiences, in PowerPoint format presented by volunteers. More than 250 presentations have been made before about 6,000 people.
The ABA award honors extraordinary outreach that show the public the need for a fair and impartial judiciary. It is named in honor of a late Hawaii attorney who also was an ABA leader. Colorado Judicial Institute and the ABA are partners of Justice at Stake.
