Top 10: TV 2010

The Trip ? It is true that it got a bit repetitive, but the pairing of Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan for this ‘restaurant review’ trip was one that had a number of delights
Dexter ? John Lithgow joins the growing list of top draw season long serial killers and this one had a sting in the tail.
This is England ‘86 - This had some of the hardest to watch scenes in if of any programme this year. Violent, funny, brilliant.
Dr Who ? Ah, Karen Gillen.
Spartacus: Blood and Sand ? Where do you start with this sex and violence filled romp. Nothing (not even Luther ? see below) couldn’t touch it for levels of ridiculousness and only Glee got anywhere near out camping it on the acting front, but there was something just, well, fun about it all. The guiltiest of guilty pleasures.
Mad Men ? One of the most consistent programmes currently on television. Don, Roger and Co have never been so engaging.
Luther ? Perhaps the daftest police drama to come along in years ? but it wasn’t half entertaining. Ruth Wilson’s turn as the baddie wanting to help the hero was one of the most delightful performances of the year.
Glee ? High School Musical meets the Kids from Fame. Resistance was futile.
House ? I still love House. It’s like an old friend that I know I can trust. Things were up and down on story quality this year bit season 6 finished with a absolute cracker, and a decision to take a risk.
Rev ? The Comedy of the year for me. Tom Hollander was just great as a vicar running a modern inner-city church. Already looking forward to the next series.
Friday Night with Jonathan Ross ? Including this just because it is no more, and whilst it was hit and miss it was slightly more hit than miss, and was a good way to end a Friday night.
