Resource of the Week: Hein Online!

A prospective law librarian interviewed me at the beginning of the semester and asked me to name our most important electronic resource. Several resources came to mind but HeinOnline was the first. Westlaw and LexisNexis are no doubt important but for depth especially in the realm of law review and legal periodical holdings HeinOnline is my favorite. See a previous blog entry, Quick Review for Locating Legal Periodical Articles. for a good review of locating legal periodical literature-especially older articles. Significant resources in addition to U. S. and international law journals from HeinOnline:  

  • Federal Register, 1938-2010
  • Code of Federal Regulations, 1936-2011
  • U. S. Code, 1925-2006
  • U. S. Statutes at Large, 1789-2007
  • U. S. Congressional Record and U. S. Congressional Record Daily Ed.-complete
  • U. S. Attorney General Opinions and selected agency administrative decisions
  • Session Laws from states and dependencies
  • Treaties and Agreements Library
  • Legal Classics
  • World Trials and World Constitutions 

In addition to browsing these titles, searching capabilities are also available.
