Outsourcing: Now Hitting the Legal World

By mdell

ADVERTISEMENTS

Outsourcing has become ubiquitous in the business sector of most industries.  But, in the July 21, 2008 article in Law.com titled "Tighter Budgets Make Outsourcing Attractive," it looks as if the trend is moving in the direction of the legal community, as well.

Katheryn Tucker notes that " [t]ough economic times and tight corporate budgets have pushed general counsel to look for creative ways to cut legal costs. And some entrepreneurial lawyers are giving them new options.

Contract attorneys, low-overhead law firms, virtual in-house counsel and even overseas outsourcing have become available, but in-house lawyers are proceeding with caution into this new territory."

So, keep an eye out....your IT help-desk support person and your large firm's transactional attorney may soon be outsourced in the same small town half-way around the world.
