: Information OverloadFROM: MR MATHEW WILLIAM
By scott
I got an email from Mr Mathew William yesterday. He’s a banker from Burkina Faso. Apparently one of the bank’s clients died and left $25Million (his whole family died, you see. Plane crash. Terrible. Messy.) He died on 31st July 2000. Anyway, Mr William, knowing the kind of guy I am, has decided to share this money with me
How lucky am I ! Oh, crap, just re-read the email and I’m supposed to “keep this transaction as [my] top secret”. Bugger, do you think this will discount me??
We’re going to split the money 50/40, with 10% on expenses. which seems fair enough. All I need to do is contact him get some more details and then hand over my bank details, and voila, I’ll be rich. Could not be easier. And, let’s face it, if there is anyone in the world more deserving of $10 million from a complete stranger, then I have yet to meet them.
Oh, wait, maybe this isn’t as innocent as it looks. Maybe a complete stranger doesn’t really have $25 million he wants to share with me? Maybe he is looking for extremely dim people to hand over their bank details so they can clear out those bank accounts? As Henry the mild mannered janitor says when asked if he is Hong Kong Phooey - COULD BE!
In the word of Mr William, “This message might meet you in utmost surprise”. It did. Thanks for the scammed, precooked meat product Matt.
