Legislative Overhaul of Florida Public Library Grants Takes Effect

ADVERTISEMENTS

It's official!  Today more than thirty new laws recently enacted by the Florida Legislature took effect, including S82 and its companion bill H21.

Relating to public library grants that are provided through state aid, the bills revise the eligibility criteria for multicounty library grants as well as the determination for and the amount of base grants. The eligibility criteria, calculation, and determination for equalization grants will also be modified, with certain limits to be placed on equalization grants and amounts under specified conditions.

S82 and H21 will likewise remove the requirement for issuance of warrants to political subdivisions eligible for certain funding.
