Darent Valley 10k

On Sunday the 18th of April I ran the Darent Valley 10k. The last time I ran this race was in April 2008 and I set a fairly respectable time. Sadly this time I hadn't managed to do much training so I wasn't feeling confident of setting any sort of decent time, so I wasn't disappointed when I set a time of 50:31 for 10 kilometres.

Unfortunately I managed to injury myself pretty badly literally in the last 100 metres of the race, when I fell off a pavement running around a corner. I appear to have torn a ligament in my right foot (at least that is the diagnosis from my local minor injuries unit) so it looks like I will be laid up for at least 6 weeks and will miss a couple of very good races including the Whistable 10k and the Larkfield 10k both of which I ran last year and set some pretty good times in.

I may also have to think about temporarily renaming my blog the non-running librarian until I'm able to run again!
